Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) is motivated by the idea of bringing about transformative change in rural development processes by using institutions knowledge to assist in the creation of an inclusive India’s architecture. The goal is to establish a virtuous loop between society and an open academic system by offering knowledge and techniques for growing professions, as well as to improve the skills of both the public and private sectors in responding to rural India’s development requirements. The current policy environment encourages national entities to adopt villages and develop relevant technology. UBA’s participating institute (PI) is Sasi Institute of Technology & Engineering (A) under the guidance of Regional coordinating institute (RCI) Andhra University, Visakhapatnam. Mr. Sk. Salman Basha, Assistant Professor, is the Coordinator of the UBA Cell, SITE (A), Tadepalligudem.
The SITE UBA Cell has assembled an inter-disciplinary team of faculty and support staff. UBA allows students and faculty to redirect their energies toward measurable objectives. We are mandated to work through the Institute’s network of available units and will also attempt to cooperate with other community stakeholders. For example, the SITE UBA Cell will collaborate with NSS, NCC units, Community Service (CS) and other departments. We have identified a few villages near our campus and have opted to work on specific themes. We intend to build model villages surrounding our campus and then expand them up throughout the West Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh.
SITE UBA & CE department has established Vermi Composting Unit used as fertilizers for organic farming. It is benefitted to increase the crop yield and reduce the usage of chemical fertilizers’. Farmers are invited from adopted villages and awareness programmes will be conducted to create awareness on importance of organic farming. SITE will work through the network of available units in the Institute and also try to collaborate with various stakeholders. SITE requesting all faculty members to make sure that 10-20 percent of all B.Tech project should be done with focus on inclusive rural development. SITE has adopted five villages and addressing the following issues:
