Dr M.V.G.S. Sarma was born as Second Son to Sri Mulagala Sethumadhava Swamy and Smt.Sita Mahalakshmi on February 15th 1950 at Kulla Village near Kotipalli, East Godavari Dist. After completion of his schooling at Tanuku and Attili, he has completed his Intermediate Education in Tadepalligudem. His Diploma in Civil Engineering was completed in Tanuku. He has completed his Graduation in Civil Engineering at Andhra University, waltair in 1974. Later he completed his Post Graduation in Structural Engineering at REC, Kurukshetra in 1978. Later he was awarded with Doctorate in Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra in 1992.
Prof. Sarma has started his career as Special M.I Overseas in Visakhapatnam in 1971. In 1975, he has associated with the society of teaching faculty by joining as Associate Lecturer in the Dept. of Civil Engg., R.E.C Kurukshetra. With the intension to serve his native state, he has joined as Lecturer in SRKR.Engineering College, Bhimavaram from its inception, 1980 and served this Institution for 27 years in different cadres. Ie., Lecturer, Reader, Professor and finally Head of the Department, apart from the other administrative positions.
Dr. Sarma had continuous training for 15 years in Yoga & Meditation at Vijimigiri, Vizianagaram District. Not only as a academist but also as an expert in Yoga, he served the society a lot. He has organized many yoga camps in and around Bhimavaram and motivated the public towards health.
Dr. Sarma is a member in many professional societies like ISTE, ISWE, IE(India) etc. He has a credit of starting ISTE Chapter and Student Chapter of Institute of Engineers (India) at SRKR.Engg.College. He served to the Student Community as a Faculty advisor for a long time to these chapters very efficiently and conducted number of events, which helped many students of other Engg.College apart from our College. He also served to the society as a good designer to many multistoried Structures and other Civil Engineering structures. He also served as a panel valuer to most of the Banks.
Prof. Sarma has number of Technical publications at National and International Level. He himself organized number of Seminars/Conferences/Workshops and gave the opportunity to enrich their knowledge to the faculty and students of various Engg. Colleges throughout the nation. These participations from all over the Country have enhanced the image of the Department as well as the Institution. He also gave many lectures at different colleges as an expert. He played a key roll in developing the research and Consultancy projects in the Department. |
